
Red Raider Volleyball Falls at No. 13 Missouri, 3-0

Lubbock, Texas - Red Raider Volleyball was once again unsuccessful against a top 25 team as they fell to No. 13 Missouri, 3-0, in Columbia, this evening. Tech now falls to 11-13 and 4-9 in Big 12 play. The Tigers secured the match victory by game scores of 30-18, 30-18, 30-19.
The Tigers took control on both sides of the ball and never relinquished their attack, hitting .300 in game one, .316 in game two and .412 in game three, with two players posting double-digit kills. Tech struggled to get their swing consistent and posted a match hitting percentage of .054 (32 kills, 26 errors, 112 attempts). The Red Raiders posted one solo block and 12 block assists in an attempt to calm the storm by Missouri. Defensively, the Black and Gold out-dug Tech, 49-34. The Tigers also had three solo blocks and eight assisted from the middle.
Philister Sang shouldered the Tech offense with 12 kills and chipped in nine digs, just missing her ninth double-double of the season. Desiree Batista tallied seven digs as the libero, including the 700th of her Tech career. Her career mark now stands at 706. Brianna Florus controlled the middle with four block assists.
Tech will continue their road swing on Saturday, as they face the Colorado Buffaloes, in Boulder, at 8 p.m.
