
Batista Named to District VI All-Academic Team

Lubbock, Texas - Desiree Batista, a member of the Texas Tech volleyball team, was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA District VI All-Academic team (university division) for her contributions in the classroom. Batista, the squad's libero, is majoring in International Business with a GPA of 3.75.
The Sao Paolo, Brazil native, has participated in Tech's 26 matches and 96 games. Batista has anchored the Red and Black defense and has tallied a team-leading 366 digs on the season. She notched her 700th career dig in Tech 3-0 loss to Missouri on Nov. 2 and her career mark now sits at 736.
