
Volleyball to Face No. 13 Missouri in Columbia

Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball looks to rebound from its two-match losing streak as the Red Raiders head north to face the No. 13 Missouri Tigers, in Columbia, Mo, on Wed., Nov. 2. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m.
Last time out, the Red and Black were shut out by the No. 1 Nebraska Huskers, at the United Spirit Arena, on Sat., Oct. 29. The Huskers secured their 21st win of the 2005 season by game scores of 30-22, 30-11, 30-16. The Red and Black now fall to 11-12 and 4-8 on the season.
Statistical leaders for the match were Brianna Florus with seven kills and two block assists in the middle while Emily Ziegler had six digs and led the setters with 17 assists. Holly Hicks chipped in with 12 assists while sharing setting duties with Ziegler.
The last time the Red Raiders met the Tigers, the Black and Gold had yet to lose a match. Things have changed as Missouri is sitting at 16-3 and 10-3 in conference play. The Tigers are currently experiencing a one-match losing streak, after being upset, in Columbia, by Colorado, 3-2, on Sat., Oct. 29. They are sitting at third in the conference.
In the season's first match-up between the two teams, the Missouri Tigers had only lost one game all season but they gave up two games to the Red Raiders, in their come-from-behind 3-2 victory at the United Spirit Arena, on Sat., Oct. 1. Missouri clinched the match with game scores of 27-30, 28-30, 30-23, 30-21, 15-12.
After taking games one and two, the Red Raiders couldn't battle back against the Tiger attack. Missouri had five players in double-digit kills and five players in double-digit digs.
Philister Sang tallied her seventh double-double of the season with 19 kills and 13 digs. Assisting on the offensive attack was Amy Charlebois who pounded down 18 kills. Emily Ziegler served as the primary setter, posting 44 assists. Desiree Batista anchored the defense with 25 digs.
The Black and Gold lead the series with the Red Raiders, 12-8. Tech has won four of nine matches in the "Show Me" state.
