
Volleyball Set to Host No. 1 Nebraska

Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team will host No. 1 Nebraska on Sat., Oct. 29. First serve with the Huskers is slated for 7 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
Last time out, despite having two players in double-digit kills and two players in double-digit digs, the Oklahoma Sooners were too much for Texas Tech volleyball as the Crimson and Cream topped the Red and Black, 3-2, in Norman. The Sooners secured their first Big 12 win by scores of 30-25, 30-32, 30-21, 27-30, 15-13.
Philister Sang shouldered the offense with 27 kills, her fourth match of the season with 27 or more putdowns. Amy Charlebois added 11 kills, her 10th match with 10 or more kills. Emily Ziegler served as the main setter and tallied 51 assists. Desiree Batista anchored the defense with 18 digs and Kiley Lyons chipped in with 11 digs. Brianna Florus controlled the middle with a season and career match-high of 11 block assists. Charlebois also added in seven block assists, a new season match-high.
The Huskers are sitting at 20-0 and 11-0 in Big 12 action while at the top of the national charts. Nebraska was picked to finish first in the conference after finishing with the conference title during the 2004 campaign. They are leading the Big 12.
At the last meeting between the two teams, Holly Hicks posted her seventh 20-assist match of the 2005 season with her 23 sets. She also added five kills and one service ace. Desiree Batista notched her eight 15-dig match of the season with her 16 dishes. Philister Sang shouldered the offense with 12 kills.
Nebraska leads the series with the Red Raiders, 23-1. The Crimson and Cream are 8-1 in the Hub City.
