Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team concluded competition at the Scarborough Specialties Open, at the McLeod Tennis Center, in Lubbock, today.
In the flight A finals, Tara Browning topped teammate Cigdem Duru, 6-3, 7-5. In the consolation finals, Samantha van der Drift topped Karen Scida of UTSA, 6-0, 6-2.
In the flight B finals, Katja Kovacic edged Lainy Chafitz of Texas State, 7-5, 6-4.
In flight C of the consolation finals, Anne Sophie Fankam fell to Sumarie Muller of Texas State, 7-5, 6-4. Erin Hunter topped Sandra Sprita of UTEP, 5-7, 6-1, ret.
In the red flight of doubles finals, Kovacic and Hunter upset teammates No. 25 Browning and Lakann Wagely, 9-7.
In other matches on the day, Deanna Carrillo fell to Kelly Morgan of Air Force, 3-6, 6-2, (10-4). She then edged Megan Harless of UTSA, 6-4, 6-4.
