
Red Raiders Fall Victim to No. 1 Huskers, 3-0

Lincoln, Neb. - The Texas Tech volleyball team was topped by the No. 1 Nebraska Huskers, 3-0, in Lincoln, this evening. The Scarlet and Cream took the match by game scores of 30-16, 30-18, 30-22. The Red Raiders now fall to 9-8 and 3-5 in Big 12 play. The Huskers remain unbeaten at the top of the Big 12 standings.
In game one, Tech had trouble battling against the 12 Husker blocks. The Red and Black tallied eight kills and only one solo block. The Red Raiders matched the Huskers in digs with 14.
In game two, the Red Raiders once again could not match the 10 additional blocks put up by the Nebraska middle. The Red and Black got their swing down for game two, posting 12 kills.
The Huskers out-blocked the Red and Black 27-12 while pounding down 50 kills and six service aces. Tech had 32 team kills and two service aces.
Holly Hicks posted her seventh 20-assist match of the 2005 season with her 23 sets. She also added five kills and one service ace. Desiree Batista notched her eight 15-dig match of the season with her 16 dishes. Philister Sang shouldered the offense with 12 kills.
The Red Raiders continue their three-match road trip this weekend when they travel to Colorado State on Saturday and Wyoming on Sunday.
