Women's Tennis Concludes Day Two at Open

Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team completed day two of competition at the Scarborough Specialties Open at the McLeod Tennis Center, in Lubbock, today.
In flight A of singles play, Tara Browning topped Ashley Ellis of Texas State, 7-5, 3-6, (10-5), to qualify for the finals. She will face teammate Cigdem Duru in the finals who advanced to the finals by edging Nathalie Wallin of UTSA, 6-4, 6-3. In the consolation semifinals, Samantha van def Drift powered over Ina Wieding of UNT, 6-2, 6-0.
In flight B of singles play, Katja Kovacic powered over Danielle King of UTEP, 6-2, 6-2, to advance to the finals. Janet Durham fell in the consolation quarterfinals to Aziza Aba Butain of UNT, 6-3, 4-6, (10-5).
In flight C of singles play, Anne Sophie Fankam fell to Katherine Harris of UNT, 7-6, 6-4, in the quarterfinals. Erin Hunter topped Amber Brightly of UTEP, 6-4, 6-2, in the consolation quarterfinals.
In flight D of singles play, Deanna Carrillo topped Alison Tetrick of ACU, 6-3, 5-7, (10-3), in the consolation finals.
In the red flight of doubles, Browning and Lakann Wagley topped Schmulbach and Moreton of UNT, 8-3. Kovacic and Hunter edged teammates Duru and van def Drift, 8-6.
In the black flight of doubles, Durham and Fankam topped Muller and Ellis, 8-4, and will play in the finals tomorrow.
