Red Raiders Wrap up Day One of the Tournaments

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's tennis finished the first day of the Hurricane Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. and the Baylor Intercollegiate in Waco, Texas. Senior Esat Tanik and freshman Adrian Prpic competed in Waco. Senior Jakob Paulsen and sophomore Bojan Szumanski led Tech in the Hurricane Invitational.
At the Baylor Intercollegiate, Prpic defeated Jacob Martin (TCU), 6-2, 6-3. Prpic saw defeat at the hands of Matija Zgaga (Baylor), 6-0, 6-3. Tanik won his second match against Michal Kokta (Baylor), 6-4, 5-7, 7-6. Irving Morales (Troy State) defeated Tanik, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. In doubles action, Prpic and Tanik defeated Rolle and Supeko (Texas A&M), 8-6. Prpic and Tanik teamed up again to defeat Pierre Cantu and Oliver Steil (UT Pan America), 8-4. Prpic and Tanik will play again tomorrow for day two of the tournament.
At the Hurricane Invitational Szumanski and Paulsen teamed up to defeat Ben Harknett and Jason Mok (Rice) 8-3. In singles, Travis Helgeson (Texas) defeated No. 21 Paulsen, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Paulsen and Szumanski will hit the courts again tomorrow for day two.
The Baylor Intercollegiate and the Tulsa Invitational will continue throughout the weekend and will conclude with the championship rounds on Sunday.
