
Men's Golf Swings Into 2004

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 43 Texas Tech men's golf team will head northeast to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Invitational Sept. 17-19. This will be Tech's first year to attend the Notre Dame Invitational/Central Regional Preview.
Representing the Red Raiders at the Notre Dame Invitational will be lettermen junior Andrew Dresser, sophomore Oscar Floren and senior Shaun Melville. Newcomers Santiago Rivas, freshman, and junior college transfer Nicolas Allain also will represent the Red and Black this weekend. Rivas from Cali, Columbia, was named Best Golf Player in Yr.'03 in Columbia and was a member of the National Golf Team. Allain, a transfer from Oklahoma City University and native of Deaurible, France, was named the NAIA National Champion in 2003.
Tech will face strong competition at the Central Regional Preview, as 10 teams are ranked in the top 50 nationally. Leading the field are No.26 Arkansas, No. 32 Tulsa, No.33 SMU, No. 34 Colorado, and No.35 Toledo.
The tournament will kickoff Fri., Sept. 17, at 9 a.m. The team will being playing on two different courses this weekend, starting at the Warren Golf Course (Par 71, 7,011) in South Bend, Ind., and will wrap up play at the Lost Dunes Golf Club (Par 71, 6,905) in Bridgman, Mich.
