In singles action, junior Jakob Paulsen defeated Marko Bandolo 6-2, 7-5, at the No. 1 position, and freshman Bojan Szumanski beat Peter Bjork 7-6, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot. Playing at the No. 3 slot, junior Esat Tanik defeated Marcos Digliodo 6-2, 7-5, while Dinko Halachev topped Marek Dvorak 7-6, 2-6, 6-4, at the No. 4 position. At No. 5, junior Michael Innerebner beat Chad Tsuda 6-1, 5-7, 10-8, and freshman Dimitrio Martinez outlasted Elliot Quibell 3-6, 6-3, 11-9, at the No. 6 slot.
Tech Coach Tim Siegel and the Red Raiders look to finish strong in their final two matches.
"This is probably our all around best effort of the year especially after coming off a beating by A&M. They really came to play, and I am proud of their effort," Siegel said. "We played a great match, and we are looking forward to our last two conference matches."
Tech will be back in action next weekend when it concludes the 2004 regular season with matches at Oklahoma State April 17 and at Oklahoma April 18. The Big 12 Championships are scheduled for April 29-May 2 in Norman, Okla.
