LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team has two new additions to the squad with one joining the Red Raiders in the spring. Amandine Ferot, a native of Paris, France, will begin join the Red Raiders in the spring while NLI signee Lane Holder of Lubbock, Texas, is set to join the 2005-06 squad.
Head Coach of the Red Raiders, Cari Groce, is very optimistic about the addition of Ferot to the squad this coming spring and is hopeful she will make an immediate impact for the Red and Black.
"We can't wait until Amandine arrives and joins the team in January," said Groce."I watched her play this summer in Paris and was so impressed with her desire and fight on the court. Her aggressive style of play will help add depth to our line-up."
Holder will join the Raiders after a stellar career at Coronado High School where she was the state runner-up in doubles as well as this year's state regional finalist.Jim Carter, head coach at Coronado High School for the past 25 years, knows that Holder will be a good fit for the Red Raiders next year.
"I know Lane will work hard for Texas Tech," said Carter."I am very excited for her and know that Lane's game will improve tremendously during her career with Tech."
Groce is excited about bringing such a great local talent, while also hoping this is the first of many local recruits Tech will draw-in in the future.
"We are thrilled to have Lane join our squad," said Groce."She is a proven winner and will make an immediate impact on the college tennis scene. Hopefully she will be the first of many area players to come and play for the Red Raiders."
