LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior shortstop Cameron Blair has been named to the Collegiate Baseball Magazine All-America Preseason First-Team that was released on Wednesday.
The preseason nod marks the third for Blair this season and likely won't be the last as he is one of the top returning collegiate infielders in the nation. Blair, also a preseason candidate for Big 12 Player of the Year honors, was a Third-Team All-America pick by Collegiate Baseball Magazine at the end of last season as well as an honorable mention pick by collegebaseballinsider.com.
Blair ended the 2004 season as one of the country's most prolific hitters as he finished with a .371 batting average along with 23 doubles, 14 home runs and 81 RBI. His 81 RBI was the fifth highest mark in the nation in 2004. Blair joins five other Big 12 players that were named to one of the three preseason teams.
So far this season he has been named a second-team preseason All-America pick by the NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) and was also named to the Brooks Wallace National Player of the Year Award Watch List.
