
Volleyball Notches One to 2004-05 Squad

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech volleyball head coach Nancy Todd announced today the signing of Holly Hicks of Austin, Texas, to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Red Raider volleyball team next season.
The Austin, Texas, native is currently a senior at Round Rock High School and was tabbed the Austin American Statesman "Senior to Watch" for 2004.
Hicks' accomplishments to date include being name to the All-Centex Sophomore team in 2002, First Team All-District 15-5A 2002, First Team All-Williamson County 2002, All Tournament Team at Pearland and Southeast San Antonio Tournaments in 2003 while being the Most Valuable Setter for District 15-5A in 2003. Her most recent individual accomplishments include being named the MVP Setter of the Northeast San Antonio Tournament in 2004.
Hicks has served as team captain for both her junior and senior years at Round Rock, and was named by Prep Volleyball Magazine as the No.60 player in its "Top 100 Seniors" list..
Hicks' club volleyball resume includes leading her team to the championship in the Tour of Texas tournament in the 15's, 16's and 17's division. The future Red Raider has led her team to the Lonestar Qualifier Championship in the 16's division, Lonestar Runner-Up in the 17's division and has been a Junior Olympic Qualifier since starting in the 14's division.
Hicks just recently led her high school team to a District 15-5A Co-Championship and Area Championship in 2004, while leading the team to a semi-regional final appearance a year ago.
While Hicks will join the Red Raiders next season, the high school senior could not be more excited about joining the Tech squad.

Holly is the daughter of Everett and Julie Hicks. Hicks joins the Red Raiders after being recruited by Tulsa, Cincinnati and Pacific. Hicks has one sister, Shari, who currently plays volleyball for Lamar University.
