USTA Futures Tournament Wraps Up Day One

LUBBOCK, Texas -
The Texas Tech men's tennis team finished the first day of the USTA Futures Tournament. The only night session began tonight at 7 p.m.
Earlier this afternoon, Michael Innerebner and Esat Tanik teamed up to see defeat at the hands of Johan Brunstrom (Sweden) and Alexander Hartman (Sweden), 6-2, 6-2. Radek Nijaki, who will be competiting for Tech in January, and Daniel Klemetz (Sweden) saw defeat in doubles against Hamid Mirzadeh and Vahid Mirzadeh (USA), 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Nijaki will see singles action tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. against Cody Conley (USA).
In singles action, Tres Davis (USA, formerly from Lubbock) defeated No. 21 collegiately Jakob Paulsen, 7-6, 6-4. Paulsen will see action again tomorrow in doubles. Paulsen will team up with Bojan Szumanski to play against David Martin (USA) and Nathan Price (USA) at 3 p.m. Toby Hansson, Tech's assistant coach, will also see action in singles against Johan Brunstrom (Sweden) tomorrow at 3 p.m.
The UTSA Futures Tournament will continue action at the McLeod Tennis Center through the week and finish up on Sunday.
