Lady Raiders Complete Day Two of Polo Tennis Collegiate Preview

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team completed the second day of competition in Tulsa, Okla. at the Polo Tennis National Collegiate Preview. The Lady Raiders amassed two victories in singles action and four wins in doubles play.

In singles play, Freshman Lakann Wagley defeated Ashley Maxwell (Illinois State), 6-4, 6-2 and Sophomore Katja Kovacic defeated Matea Simovic (Illinois State), 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore Tara Browning fell to Elizabeth Bingier (Illinois State) after a tough battle on the court by a score of 2-6, 6-2, and 6-4.

In the doubles bracket, the Lady Raiders saw much success winning four of six matches. Tara Browning and Katja Kovacic won both of their doubles matches beating Bingier and Gravino (Illinois State) by a score of 8-5, and Griffin and Pratzel (Oklahoma), 9-8. Kendall Brooks and Irina Tereschenko were one and one in doubles play losing to Miller and Suurvarik (Illinois State), 8-2, and defeating Braver and Lykina (Oklahoma), 8-5. Hristiyana Gocheva and Gyurgina defeated Sechaud and Maxwell (Illinois State), 9-7 but lost to Beachler and Carter (Oklahoma), 8-3.

The Polo Tennis National Collegiate Preview will continue in Tulsa, Okla. through tomorrow, Sept. 28.
