LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Literacy Coalition will serve as title sponsor of this weekend's Texas Tech/Oklahoma State Big 12 baseball series at Dan Law Field.
The Lubbock Literacy Coalition is a local non-profit organization that strives to improve literacy across the South Plains. The group offers free adult basic education, one-one-one tutoring classes and family literacy programs at various locations across the city.
The group will be out in force this weekend at the Texas Tech/Oklahoma State baseball series as they will be collecting books at the front gate of Dan Law Field. Fans who would like to donate a book at the game will receive $1 off the admission price to the game. All books donated will go directly to the YWCA. The LLC would like to remind Tech fans that all levels of books are needed but pre-school age material is the biggest need.
Sponsors to date for the TTU Baseball/Literacy Coalition fundraiser are: Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (major sponsor), Frito Lay, Highland Hospital, Home Plate Diner, KFC, Lubbock National Bank, Mass Mutual, Plains National Bank, UMC, United, Workforce Development Board, South Plains Community Action, Edwin and Lisz Wentz, Flathers Financial, A Sign 4 U and Master's Cleaners.
