Red Raiders Finish 17th at Border Olympics

LUBBOCK, Texas - Freshman Andrew Dresser shot a three-round 219 to finish in a 28th place tie and lead the Red Raiders in scoring for the third-straight event at the 52nd Annual Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas.
Dresser shot a final round 1-under par 71 to improve in the standings after opening with rounds of 72 and 76. Clint Diebert finished tied in 54th place, while Brooks Kelly and Erik Stenman followed with ties in 56th and 71st, respectively. Casey Jones closed out Tech's scoring in 77th place.
The Red Raiders finished 17th in the 20-team field. Tournament host Texas A&M erased a 16-stroke gap on the final day and won the event in a playoff over Arkansas. San Diego State and Baylor tied for third, while Kansas State, SMU, BYU, UAB, Colorado State and Iowa State rounded out the top 10.
Lamar, Texas-Arlington, Washington State and Notre Dame finished 11th through 14th, while Rice and Texas-San Antonio tied in 15th place. Following Tech, Southwest Texas State, Rhode Island and Louisiana-Lafayette closed out the field.
The Red Raiders next compete in the Big 12 Championships in Stillwater, Okla., April 28-30.
