Lady Raider Tennis Has Strong Finish at Cougar Fall Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team completed the final day of competition at the Cougar Fall Classic in Houston. The Lady Raiders finished the competition with freshman Lakann Wagley winning first place in her flight.

In round two of flight J, Lakann Wagley knocked off Danielle Lee (TAMU) 6-2, 6-4 to head into the finals where she defeated Melissa Back (Rice) 6-4, 6-2 to take the first place spot. In round two of flight F, freshman Iva Gyurgina took home third place after being defeated by Sara Baker (NMS), 6-3, 6-0 and then defeating Fernanda Kompatschor (ULL) 6-0, 6-2 in the finals round.

SophomoreTara Browning was defeated in round two of flight C by Fanny Rollet (NMS), 6-2, 6-3 but defeated Andrea Moncada (La. Tech), 6-1, 6-2 in the finals to walk away with seventh place.

The Lady Raiders will compete next at the Air Force Academy Invitational, Oct. 10-12.
