No. 50 Men's Golf Improves To Sixth Place Finish

LUBBOCK, Texas - In its final appearance of the season the No. 50 men's golf team shot an 846 (287, 280, 279) to finish in sixth at The Nelson Invitational in Stanford, Calif. The 846 tied the team's best appearance this season with the fourth place finish at the Fresno State Golf Classic.
Sophomore Andrew Dresser improved every day of play garnering a fifth place finish at the tournament. Dresser shot a 206 (70,69,67) with a career low round of 67 for his third top five finish of the season. Freshman Oscar Floren finished in a two way tie for 15th after shooting 210 (71,68,71), setting two career records with a low round of 68 and 54-hole score of 210.
In his first tournament of the season senior Brad Jacobson finished in a 39th place tie with a score of 215 (73,71,71). Sophomore Erik Stenman improved every round to finish in a tie for 46th after shooting 217 (75,72,70). Junior Shaun Meville with a score of 219 and three rounds of 73 finished in a tie for 54th.
No. 25 Duke won the tournament with a score of 834. No. 10 Washington, Colorado, No. 49 Colorado State and No. 32 Kansas finished in the top five. No. 50 Texas Tech, Southern California, No. 33 Toledo, Stanford and Hawaii-Hilo round out the top 10 while No. 40 Missouri, Notre Dame, UC-Davis, Florida Southern and Idaho complete the 15-team field.
This tournament concludes the team's fall season with Tech picking up play Feb. 11 at the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
