Men's Golf Takes Fifth at Tucker Intercollegiate

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Texas Tech men's golf team shot rounds of 293-288-295-876 over the weekend to take fifth-place honors at the 48th Annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M. Tournament host, the University of New Mexico (281-288-295-864), claimed both the team and individual titles.
Senior Brooks Kelly fired a one-under-par 71 (75-72-71-218) in Saturday's final round to tie for 14th and picked up his fourth career top 20 and first of the season. Junior Brad Jacobson also fared well after rounds of 71-73-76-220, finishing in a five-way tie for 22nd.
Freshman Andrew Dresser tied with three other players in 27th place after shooting rounds of 74-69-78-221, while fellow teammate Casey Jones competed in his first tournament as a Red Raider and finished with a 75-74-74-223 to tie for 38th. Senior Mark Hull sits in a six-way tie for 49th after a three-round total of 225 (73-78-74).
Tech will take a three-week break before traveling Oct. 7-8 to the Nestle' Purina Classic in St. Charles, Mo., hosted by Big 12 rival University of Missouri.
