LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech assistant women's tennis coach Sandy Collins has been extended an invitation to play in this year's U.S. Open that is being played at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York.
"I am really excited to being playing in the Open especially with a player the caliber of Anand Armitraj," said Collins. "We also plan to do a little recruiting while we are in New York so hopefully this will be a positive step forward for the tennis program here at Texas Tech."
Collins will play senior mixed doubles with Anand Armitraj who spent this past year on the tour with brother Vijay. The senior mixed doubles action gets underway on Monday, Sept. 2.
