Well, I've been here since the beginning of August and now that it is December, I can still honestly say that I love it here and couldn't have picked a better place to live or a better college to attend. Over the past 4 months, I have made it through two-a-days, competed in the Big 12, and made friends that will last a lifetime. Oh yeah, I've also almost completed my first full semester of college and my grades aren't too bad. I hope you have enjoyed reading about it as much as I have enjoyed living it.
In reflection to this season, even though it didn't end as any of us hoped for, it still was an awesome journey and an experience that I personally will never forget. It seems like forever ago that we were in New York beating Hofstra, Kentucky, and Fairfield. However, from the Vegas tournament until mid-conference play, we had a hard time finding confidence and momentum to win games. Not to say that there wasn't any fight or heart in our matches, but we lacked finish in such five-game matches as K-State and A&M. Then it came time for the second half of conference, and I saw our team ignite with a new fire and desire to win in which each person overcame their own personal obstacles.
As for my first semester at Texas Tech as a student, I have to say that it has been tough. It took me awhile to get used to the traveling, studying, playing, and practicing. However, the professors have been absolutely great about letting me make-up tests and other assignments. I've learned a lot, not just from the classroom but more importantly experience to handle certain situations. My advice to every freshman, athlete or not, do your work, study, and DON'T PROCRASTINATE!
To the seniors, I would like to extend a special "Thank You" and to wish them the best of luck. Each of you made my transition to college life and to a different style of play easier and enjoyable. Girls, remember that life is not measured by money, belongings, or status, but rather by happiness, love, and faith. I just hope that one day I will be one of the seniors that the incoming freshman can look up to, come to for advice, and count on; thank each of you for everything. For the rest of the team, you also were a crutch for me to lean on. So far, I've enjoyed becoming and being friends with each of you. Your different personalities make everything fun and interesting. I'm looking forward to next season!
It has been great being able to share the fun, the excitement, the losses, and the victories with you, the readers and die hard fans of Texas Tech volleyball. I can't wait for next year, and I hope that each of you will continue supporting the team.
Go Red Raiders!!!
