LUBBOCK, Texas - After 28 games in 2002, the immediate future of the Texas Tech volleyball team rests with the outcome of a Saturday night match with the No. 19 ranked Missouri Tigers in Columbia, Mo.
Tech (14-14, 9-10) has had its best November in school history going 6-2, with its lone setbacks coming at No. 4 Nebraska and at Texas. The Red Raiders have won six of their last seven and three consecutive to make a last-ditch effort to be eligible for the NCAA Tournament.
But to even be in contention for the postseason Tech must complete the season sweep of the Missouri Tigers this weekend.
Winning on the road in the Big 12 is not an easy task. The Red Raiders are 3-6 away from the United Spirit Arena this season, which includes a pair of heartbreaking five-game losses to Kansas State and Texas A&M.
With its back against the wall, Tech has managed to pull back to within one game of .500 in conference play after going just 3-8 in the first half. First serve for Saturday's match is scheduled for 7 p.m and Fans will be able to follow all the action via live stats at www.texastech.com.
Should the Red Raiders pull off the upset, they will be eligible for the NCAA Tournament. ESPN news will broadcast the selection show at 8 p.m. (cst.).
