LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech softball coach Bobby Reeves announced today the signing of seven athletes to N.L.I for the 2004 season. The list includes Ashley Parker (Lindale, Texas), Heather Parker (Lindale, Parker), Ashleigh Renfro (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Brandy Moulin (Harrah, Okla.), Tessa Powell (Perryton, Texas), Keely Tucker (Dripping Springs, Texas) and Natalie Enderlin (Austin, Texas).
Twins Ashley and Heather Parker will head Tech after playing softball for Lindale High School in Lindale, Texas. Ashley will spend time at catcher and outfield while Heather see action at shortstop and second base. Coach Reeves believes the signing of these siblings will have a direct impact on the team. "Both Ashley and Heather are very athletic as well as great students," noted Reeves. "They will help the team immediately."
Renfro, Moulin and Powell will all play in multiple positions for the Lady Raiders, increasing the depth of the team. "Ashleigh has very good hands and a precise aim," according to Reeves. "She should help the team next year after the graduation of Kristi Robles at shortstop. Brandy will be very good at second base, and will bring another strong left-handed hitter to our line-up. Tessa is a very good athlete with a tremendous work ethic. She has a rifle of an arm as well as a great power with a bat."
Keely Tucker of Dripping Springs, Texas is one of two transfers who will play for the Lady Raiders in 2004. Transferring from Navarro Junior college, Tucker will spend time on the mound. At Navarro, she helped lead the team to a ninth place finish in the nation and a Region XIV Championship. "Keely is a great pitcher. She will come here and give us the opportunity to beat anyone in the country."
Joining Tucker is Natalie Enderlin who will also transfer from Navarro. Enderlin attended Crockett High School in Austin, Texas and will play outfield for the Lady Raiders. "Natalie was the lead off hitter for NJC last year. She hit .400 last season and will be a great force in both the outfield and lead off position. She has tremendous speed and a good arm."
