Baylor wins Big 12 Men's Golf Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - - Baylor fired a three-round total of 894 to capture its first Big 12 Conference Men's Golf Championship being played at Prairie Dunes Country Club.
"This is a big moment for Baylor golf," said BU head coach Tim Hobby. "This year's seniors were in my first recruiting class which makes this championship even more special."
The title is Baylor's first conference championship in men's golf since1966 and only the third in school history. BU's Worth Williams claimed medalist honors after shooting a three-round total of 215. The senior recorded two-over par 72s in the first two rounds and a one-over par 71 in the final 18 to win the individual title by eight strokes.
"This is just an awesome feeling and winning the title is exactly what we came here for," said Williams. "My chipping and putting is what really did it for me. I knew coming in that you had to have a good short game to play well out here (Prairie Dunes)."
Oklahoma and Texas tied for second, 10 strokes behind Baylor at 904. Colorado placed fourth at 905 and defending champion Oklahoma State was fifth at 912.
Individually behind Williams, Oklahoma's Kelsey Cline and Oklahoma State's Par Nilsson tied for second at 223. BU's Jimmy Walker was fourth with a 224.
The Red Raiders finished in 10th place with a team total of 954. Mark Hull finished tied in 16th place with a 20-over par performance of 230. David Bolen tied for 26th place at 24-over with rounds of 82, 75 and 77. Kyle Willmann completed the tournament in 54th place after rounds of 89, 79 and 78 for a 36-over par total of 246. Trey Pyka and Brad Jacobson rounded out the Raiders tied for 56th place at 38-over par with a total of 248.
