DALLAS -- - Texas is the favorite to win the 2001 Big 12 Conference Men's Golf Championship in a poll voted on by the league's head coaches and released by the conference office. The Big 12 Championship will be conducted Monday-Tuesday, April 23-24, at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. The championship will be a total of 54 holes played over two days, with 36 holes the first day and 18 holes the second day.
The coaches' poll was used to determine first round pairings. Texas, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma will tee off on No. 1 at 8 a.m. while Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Missouri tee off No. 10 at 8 a.m. Kansas, Colorado and Baylor tee off on No. 1 at 8:50 a.m. and Nebraska, Kansas State and Iowa State tee off No. 10 at 8:50 a.m.
This year marks the fifth Big 12 Conference Men's Golf Championship. Oklahoma State won the 1997, 1998 and 2000 team titles. Kansas captured the 1999 championship.
