Three Former Red Raiders On MLB Opening Day Rosters

LUBBOCK, Texas - Three former Red Raiders made the Major League Baseball 25-man opening day roster and join 30 other former Big 12 players on a total of 21 teams.
Keith Ginter, Brandon Kolb and Ryan Nye were named to the opening day rosters of the Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies respectively.
Ginter played second base for the Red Raiders in 1997 and 1998 and led Tech to the inaugural Big 12 Championship in 1997 and the Big 12 Tournament Championship in 1998. Brandon Kolb was a pitcher for Tech in 1995 and led the team to a 3-2 win over Stanford in Texas Tech's first-ever NCAA regional that put the team in the semifinals of that bracket. Ryan Nye was another Red Raider hurler and took the mound for the Red and Black in 1994 and 1995.
