Red Raiders Gear Up For Big 12 Tourney

BOULDER, Colo. - The 2001 regular season campaign came to a close today for the Texas Tech men's tennis team against Big 12 opponent Colorado. The Red Raiders dropped its second straight loss of the weekend against the Buffs, 5-2.
With the loss Tech drops to 6-15 overall and 1-7 in league play. Colorado advances to 10-9 overall and earns its first Big 12 victory to finish the regular season 1-5 in league play.
In doubles action, Tech won the No. 1 position with Ben Gudzelak and Richard Crabtree defeating Justin Hunter and Bryan Knepper, 8-5. The duo continues to tear-up the Big 12 winning seven out of the past eight improving their record to 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the Big 12. Tech dropped the remaining two doubles positions.
Tech earned its two victories of the day in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Gudzelak dropped Mirko Jovanovic in the No. 2 position in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. He closes out the regular season 10-9 overall and 2-6 in the league. In the No. 3 position Richard Crabtree closes out season by beating Bryan Knepper in three-sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. He earned his second victory of the weekend improving his record to 11-9 overall and 2-6 in the Big 12.
The Red Raiders will return to action in the Big 12 Tournament in Waco, Texas, on Thursday, April 26.
