Red Raiders Host Second Outdoor Meet

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field team hosted its second outdoor meet of the season today at R.P. Fuller Stadium on the Texas Tech campus. Field events began at 11 a.m. and running events started at 2 p.m. with a rolling time schedule.
In the first event of the day to be finished Tech's Candice Cole started the day off well for the Red Raiders by placing second in the women's javelin throw. Her distance was 34.72m (113'11.00"). In the men's javelin throw Bronzay Rivera finished in fourth with a throw of 44.38m (145'07.00").
Event 31: Men's hammer throw, Ryan Curry placed third behind two unattached individuals. His throw of 47.74m (156'07.00") was a distance ahead of fourth place whom threw a 45.15m (148'01.00").
Following the hammer throw, in the women's pole vault Ashley Ramsey finished in second with 3.15m (10'04.00").
The Red Raiders captured first place in the women's 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.42. The closest finisher was Southwest Texas at 46.10.
Bridget Tidwell finished in third place in the women's 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:58.62 and turned in a time of 10:47.12 in the 3,000-meter run to finish second.
Texas Tech's Tracy Anderson and Megan Schuessler finished first and second, respectively in the discus throw. Anderson logged a toss of 145'10", while Schuessler's mark landed at 140'07". Schuessler also claimed the top spot in the shot put with a toss of 43'01".75.
Bronzay Rivera turned in a time of 54.64 to finish third for the Red Raiders in the men's 400-meter intermediate hurdles.
In the women's 200-meter dash, Tech's D'Andria Brigham clocked in at 25.05 in second place to lead Tech in the event.
Ken Wilson and Robby Carey finished three and four in the pole vault. Both cleared 15'07".75 to finish.
Texas Tech's Mike Beasley claimed the top spot in the high jump with a leap of 7'00".25.
The Red Raiders finished second and third in the men's 4,600-meter run as Joseph McCellon (14:21.37) and George Odom (14:42.38) claimed the two spots. (NOTE: The 4,600-meter run was originally a 5,000-meter race, but was run a lap short.)
In the final event of the day for the women, Texas Tech's 4x400-meter relay team finished first in a time of 3:46.54.
