Red Raiders Run at Dr Pepper Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field squad participated in the Dr Pepper Invitational this past weekend at the Hart/Patterson Track & Field Complex on the Baylor campus in Waco, Texas, with senior sprinter Ngozi Iwu posting a provisional qualifying time in the 400 meters.
Iwu posted a time of 53.61 for first place in the 400 meters, while fellow sprinter Melonie Barrow finished fourth in the event with a mark of 56.70.
The women's 4x100m relay team of Tiffany Green, Tami Zachary, Ashley Mitchell and Monique Wright-Cruse took second with a time of 46.25.
A pair of men cleared 6-10 in the high jump, with Olavi Paavo taking first and Michael Beasley second in the event on Saturday.
Ryan Curry finished second in the men's discus throw with a mark of 158-7. Curry also came in fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 145-2.
The Red Raiders continue the outdoor season this weekend when they host the Texas Tech Invitational at R.P. Fuller Stadium on the Tech campus.
