LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team fell to conference opponent Kansas today, 7-0 in Lubbock at the Texas Tech Rec Courts on campus. The Red Raiders drop to 5-10, 1-3 while the Jayhawks improve to 11-7, 2-1.
In doubles action Ben Gudzelak and Richard Crabtree have appeared to have found their touch as the duo has won three straight matches. Each match has come in conference play. The combo defeated Kansas' Pete Stroer and Quentin Blakeney in the No. 1 position, 9-7, improving to 4-7 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Red Raiders dropped the remaining two positions to lose the doubles point.
Tech fell in each of the singles positions in straight sets.
"We lost some key players this year due to injury and today we were not able to play two of our top players," said head coach Tim Siegel. The Red Raiders are without four of its top seven players on the squad. "I am still happy with the way our team is playing. They have their heads up and are going out there to play everyday."
Following today's match Tech returns to action next Friday, March 30 at home as the squad host the University of Texas-San Antonio.
