Red Raiders Host The Buffs

LUBBOCK, Texas - On Sunday, March 4 the Texas Tech women will host the Colorado Buffaloes at 11 a.m. at Nautilus Fitness Center in Lubbock. The Red Raiders look to improve on its 6-2 start and 2-2 in the Big 12. The Buffaloes enter the contest 4-5. Tech will be the first Big 12 match of the 2001 season for Colorado.
In the No. 1 position freshman Irina Tereschenko leads the team by posting a 7-1 record, 3-1 in the Big 12. She is coming off a win against Baylor's 26th-ranked Jahnavi Parekh last weekend, where she won in straight sets. Her lone loss came against Rebekah Forney of Texas. Since the loss she has gone 2-0 with both wins coming against conference opponents and in the No. 1 position.
In doubles action, Tereschenko has teamed-up with Beverly Dawson in the No. 1 position. The duo is 7-1, 3-1 in the Big 12. They are coming off of a win against Baylor's Katja Kovac and Vida Mulec.
The Red Raiders return to action Saturday, March 10 when the squad will travel to Manhattan, Kan., to battle the Kansas State Wildcats.
