LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team opens Big 12 play tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. against Missouri at the Hillcrest Country Club in Lubbock.
The Red Raiders are off to their best start in 14 years, posting a 4-0 record in non-conference action this year. Leading the way for Tech is senior co-captain Alenka Ovin at the No. 1 position, who has compiled a 4-0 record in the 2001 season.
The Tigers enter the match with a 5-1 record and 0-1 in the Big 12 after losing at Baylor, 7-0, today. The five wins to open the season is the best-ever start for Missouri. Tech leads the series against the Tigers 3-1 after Missouri won last year's match 5-4.
"We are excited about getting the Big 12 season under way," said Texas Tech head coach Virginia Brown. "We have had a successful non-conference schedule and hope to continue that success into Big 12 play."
