Tech Baseball Ranked No. 26 By Collegiate Baseball

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team earned its first preseason ranking of the season as Collegiate Baseball Magazine has ranked the Red Raiders at No. 26. Texas Tech was one of five Big 12 schools ranked in the poll as Oklahoma State was a surprising pick at No. 10 while Nebraska was 13th, Texas 15th, Baylor 18th and Texas A&M rounded out the poll at No. 30.
Senior third baseman Nick Blankenship was placed on the preseason third-team All-America list joining Shane Komine of Nebraska (first-team pick), Steven White of Baylor (third-team), Nebasset Brown of Oklahoma State (third-team) and Omar Quintanilla of Texas (third-team).
The Red Raiders finished the 2001 season with an overall record of 43-20-1 and a 19-10-1 mark in the Big 12. The Red Raiders were runners-up in the Big 12 last year and also finished second behind No. 1 seeded Cal State Fullerton in the NCAA Fullerton Regional.
