Red Raiders Drop New Mexico State In Four

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Freshman outside hitter Kelly Johnson tallied 20 kills to lead the Texas Tech volleyball team to a 3-1 (30-14, 30-27, 27-30, 30-20) victory over the New Mexico State Roadrunners on Wednesday night in Las Cruces.
With the win, Texas Tech improves to 15-10 overall while New Mexico State drops to 16-9. Tech's win over the Roadrunners snaps a five-match win streak by New Mexico State.
Texas Tech took a 2-0 lead into the intermission but allowed New Mexico State to send the match to extra games as the Roadrunner won the fourth game 30-27. Texas Tech sealed the match with a 30-20 win in game-four.
Kelly Johnson led the Red Raiders with a match-high 20 kills and 19 digs. As a team, Texas Tech hit .222 while New Mexico State hit .127.
Texas Tech returns to Big 12 action on Saturday night when the squad hosts the Oklahoma Sooners at 7 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena.
