Aggies End Tech's Season With a 3-0 Sweep

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team was unable to knock off 15th ranked Texas A&M tonight as the Aggies dropped Texas Tech 3-0 in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Texas Tech finishes the 2001 season with an overall record of 18-13 and completes league play at 9-11. Texas A&M improved to 23-5 overall and 16-4 in league play and will go to the NCAA Tournament as the second place team from the Big 12 Conference.
Texas Tech was only able to grab one lead in the first two games (1-0 in the first game) thanks to a stingy Aggie attack that led to a 30-16 win in game-one and a 30-13 win in game-two. Texas Tech was able to put up a fight in the third game as both teams traded punches late in the match before Texas A&M rolled off three straight points to win the game 30-27.
Kelly Johnson led the Red Raider attack with 17 kills while Melissa McGehee led the defensive effort with 16 digs.
