David Bolen Wins First Title of the Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team placed third at the 2001 Cardinal Classic. The team shot an 11-over par 875, three strokes behind first place University of North Texas and one stroke behind second place and tournament host Lamar University.
Senior David Bolen held the first place lead from yesterday to win his first tournament of the season, shooting a seven-under par 209 (70, 69, 70). In five tournaments so far this season, Bolen has set a new career best low round 65 and a new career best 36 hole score of 135.
Sophomore Brad Jacobson tried to hold onto sixth place but fell to eighth shooting a two-over par round of 218 (72, 70, 76). Fellow Tech senior Kyle Willmann finished in 25th after shooting a six-over par 222 (72, 74, 76), falling from 17th place.
The Red Raiders will be in action again as they travel to Palo Alto, Calif., Oct. 26-28, to compete in The "Nelson" tournament hosted by Stanford University.
