Men's Golf Has Strong Showing After Two Rounds

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team completed the first 36 holes of the 2001 Cardinal Classic in Beaumont, Texas, earlier today. The 24th-ranked Red Raiders are in second place shooting a one-over par 577, four strokes behind first place University of North Texas.
Texas native, David Bolen, leads the pack tied for first place shooting a career best 36 holes of 139, five-under par, (70, 69). Last week, Bolen shot a 218 (77, 66, 75) placing second at the SFA Crown Classic in Lufkin, Texas. Tied in first place with Bolen are Casey Yates of Arkansas-Little Rock and UNT's Brad Gibson.
Sophomore Brad Jacobson is tied for sixth place after two rounds shooting a two-under par 142 (72, 70), with his second round 70 being his career best thus far. Tech senior Kyle Willmann rounds out the top 20 shooting a two-over par 146 (72, 74), good for 17th place.
The Red Raiders will resume play tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. on the par-72 Oaks Golf Club course with hopes for a third tournament title in its first four tournaments.
