The Texas Tech Red Raiders learned Monday afternoon that they will travel to Houston, Texas this weekend for the NCAA Regional at Cougar Field. Tech, the No. 3 seed in the regional, will face second-seeded Rice at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Regional host Houston will play the fourth-seeded Princeton Tigers at 7 p.m. that evening.
The Red Raiders are making their sixth straight tournament appearance after posting a 35-24 record through the Big 12 tournament. After dropping the opener against Texas, Tech came back to win two straight elimination games against Texas A&M and the Longhorns. The Red Raiders lost on Saturday to Baylor.
The Rice Owls and Red Raiders will be matched up again after the Owls won two games against Tech in last year's regional in Lubbock. In two games on the final day, the Owls won 3-1 and 15-11 to move onto the Super Regional and finally the College World Series.
