LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field teams make their way to Austin on Wednesday for the 73rd annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, the premier track and field event in the state of Texas. The meet runs Wednesday through Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium & Soccer Field on the University of Texas campus in Austin.
The Tech men enter the meet with one of the Big 12's top middle distance runners in Gezachw Yossef. Two weekends ago at the Stanford Cardinal Invite Yossef ran a time of 3:41.97 in the 1,500-meter run. That time set a new Texas Tech school record and provisionally qualified Yossef for the national championship meet.
The men also are buoyed by the efforts of the 4x100-relay team. Twice this season the team has just missed a provisional qualifying time by 0.6 seconds.
Tech's women boast a strong pair of relay teams. The Red Raider 4x100 and 4x400 teams have both set new school records in the respective events this season and the 4x400 team has provisionally qualified for nationals.
