LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team, 1-6 (0-1 Big 12) hits the road this weekend for a grueling road trip when they face Iowa State, Missouri and Kansas on consecutive days. The trip marks the first road action of the Big 12 season for the Red Raiders.
"It's certainly a tough chore, playing three in a row like this," women's coach Virginia Brown said. "Fatigue may play a factor, maybe it won't. We'll just have to see. All we can worry about is playing our best tennis and trying to get a win."
The Raiders play Iowa State in Ames on Friday morning at 10 o'clock. They then travel to Columbia to face Missouri at 10 a.m. Saturday. The road trip wraps up Sunday morning at 10 o'clock when Tech takes on the No. 42 Kansas Jayhawks.
Tech is 0-1 in conference after losing their opener on Sunday against Oklahoma State by a score of 7-2. The team is led by senior Amanda Earhart, the No. 1 singles player, and a pair of freshmen, Ayako Suzuki and Sonnia Orellana. Suzuki and Orellana are 3-4 at the No. 2 and 3 positions respectively.
