Texas Tech Falls to Illinois State

The Texas Tech softball team dropped a 4-0 decision to Illinois State in late night action at Bulldog Diamond in Fresno Calif. It was the fifth tournament game for the Red Raiders who are now 1-4 at the Bulldog Classic and 8-20 overall.
Illinois State, who in the game before upset No. 3 UCLA, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.The Redbirds added a run in the sixth to make the score 4-0. Tech pitcher Dana Yocum allowed four earned runs off of three hits in the loss. Her record goes to 2-5 on the year.
The Red Raiders had a chance to tie the game in the seventh inning when they loaded the bases with no outs. However, Redbird pitcher Nicole Kurth came in as a reliever and retired the next three Tech batters to preserve the lead. Tech is back in action Sunday afternoon when they face Florida State.
