COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas Tech won the first of two games played at Olsen field, 8-5, while Texas A&M won the second, 2-1.
In the first game of the day, a continuation of Friday night's game that was suspended due to rain and lightning, Texas Tech scored three runs in the top of the ninth to earn a 8-5 win in front of 5,136 fans at Olsen Field.
Steve Rowe recorded the win for the Red Raiders by throwing three innings of relief and scattering four hits. Rowe runs his record to 3-0.
Chris Russ was tagged with the loss and his record drops to 0-1. Russ gave up five hits and all three of the Red Raider runs in the ninth.
Leading the way for the Aggies offensively was right fielder Daylan Holt who was 4-for-4 with three doubles and a RBI. A&M left fielder Carlos Sepulveda added a pair of doubles and was 3-for-5 for the game.
In the second game, Aggie starter Khalid Ballouli went the distance, striking out a season high 9 Red Raider hitters and led the Aggies to a 2-1 win.
The Aggies got on the board first with a two-out single in the bottom of the second by short stop Ryan Wardinsky that scored left fielder Carlos Sepulveda.
No other runs crossed the plate until the top of the ninth when Texas Tech short stop Scott Holzhauer drove a 1-2 change up over the right field wall.
With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Aggie catcher Jason Gremminger singled to lead off the inning. Right fielder Daylan Holt perfectly executed a sacrifice bunt to move Gremminger to second. First baseman Jeff Freeman was intentionally walked and Gremminger was lifted for pinch runner Chris Russ. Sepulveda delivered a game-winning single to right field that scored Russ.
Texas Tech starter Kevin Tracey also went the distance and struck out 8 Aggie hitters. The loss drops Tracey's record to 2-4 while Ballouli's record evens at 3-3.
