COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M Aggies were too much for the Texas Tech volleyball team as the Aggies won in three games (15-6, 15-12, 15-11) on Wednesday night in College Station.
With the loss, Tech falls to 16-3 on the season and 5-3 in the Big 12 while A&M improves to 11-4 and 6-2 in the league. With the 3-0 win, Texas A&M became the first team to sweep Texas Tech this season.
On the night, the Red Raiders were led by senior Colleen Smith's 18 kills and eight defensive digs. The defensive leader for Tech was sophomore Melissa McGehee who dug up 15 balls.
Texas Tech was unable to overcome 17 blocks from the Aggies and 16 kills by Erin Gibson. The Red Raiders will look to end a two-game losing streak when they face-off against No. 1 ranked Nebraska on Saturday at United Spirit Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
