Leigh Daniel Wins National Championship in 10,000 meters

BOISE, Idaho - Texas Tech women's distance runner Leigh Daniel (Lubbock, Texas) has won the NCAA title in the 10,000 meters today at the NCAA outdoor championships in Boise, Idaho. Her time of 34:01.63 placed her just over two seconds ahead of Tara Rohatinsky of Brigham Young who ran a 34:04.02 to finish second in the race. It is Daniel's second national championship this year. In March she captured the national title in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA indoor championships.
Daniel also concludes the outdoor season with the nation's top collegiate time in the event after running a 32:53.95 in the race on March 27 at the Stanford Invite.
She will race again on Saturday when she will look to capture the outdoor title in the 5,000 meters. The race is scheduled to begin at 9:45 CST.
