Ty Parker returned to Texas Tech Athletics in Oct. 2022 as Director of Social Strategy after previously serving on the Texas Tech Athletics Communications staff from 2016-21. He runs the Texas Tech Athletics and Texas Tech Football social media accounts, and assists in strategy, planning, and execution for the rest of the sport accounts.
Parker rejoined the Red Raider family after a year on the communications staff at Lubbock ISD. During his previous stint at Texas Tech Athletics, he served two years as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for the volleyball and soccer programs. In 2019, he was promoted to an Associate Director of Athletic Communications where he served as the primary baseball contact and the secondary football contact. In his first year with Red Raider baseball, he led all communication efforts for one of the program's most historic seasons as the Red Raiders won the Big 12 title, Josh Jung was named Big 12 Player of the Year and drafted No. 8 overall by the Texas Rangers, and the Red Raiders hosted NCAA Regional and Super Regional rounds on their way to a College World Series appearance and trip to the national semifinals.Â
Parker came to Texas Tech after spending a year as a communications assistant in the Southeastern Conference at the University of South Carolina. During his time there, Parker touched several sports as the primary contact, including men’s soccer, men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s tennis and women’s tennis.
Parker joined the Gamecocks after working nearly two years as a graduate assistant in Texas Tech’s Athletics Communications office while working towards his master’s degree. During his two years, he handled live stats and social for several tennis matches, helped at home events across nearly every sport, and contributed multiple articles for TexasTech.com and the Red Raider Sports magazine.
A double graduate of Texas Tech University, Parker earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science with a minor in business in December 2011 and received his master’s degree in mass communication with a focus in sports and media in May 2015.
Parker is born and raised in Lubbock and met his wife, Abby, at Texas Tech. The two married in 2019 and had their first child in December 2023.
