Lyndee Kiesling enters her fourth season as director of player development/support for Texas Tech baseball in 2020. Kiesling joined the staff in January 2017 after five years in Athletics Academic Services, serving as the director of the Learning Assistance Program and as a learning specialist.
Â
Kiesling is responsible for student-athlete & player development, coordinating & arranging all community service events/appearances, while also serving as a liaison to the Fearless Champions Leadership Academy and the Marsha Sharp Academic Center. She will also manage administrative duties for the baseball program.
With Kiesling's help, the 2018-19 academic year was full of tremendous success. The Red Raiders turned in a 3.16 team GPA in the 2018 fall semester to secure their highest term GPA under Tadlock for the second consecutive fall. Tech had 24 student-athletes named to the academic honor roll, five of which were on the President's List. The team's success fed into the historic success of the Texas Tech athletics department, which recorded its highest department-wide cumulative GPA in history of 3.256 following the fall of 2018.Â
Texas Tech was also recognized at the 2019 College World Series as the team with the highest cumulative GPA, while sophomore catcher Braxton Fulford took home the NCAA Elite 90 Award for baseball, presented annually to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
In the fall of 2017, the Red Raider baseball team posted its highest total GPA under head coach Tim Tadlock at 3.14. In addition, 26 student-athletes were named to the academic honor roll (3.0+ GPA), with 10 earning Dean's List honors (3.5+ GPA) and two on the President's List (4.0 GPA).Â
Â
In her role with Athletics Academic Services, Kiesling worked hand-in-hand with Texas Tech student-athletes, including baseball. She assessed the academic needs of student-athletes, developed learning plans and provided individualized academic guidance for these students. Kiesling collaborated with Student Disability Services and local psychologists in order to coordinate the Learning Assistance Program and meet the needs of each individual student-athlete. She also managed the internship program within the department.
Â
Kiesling was raised in Eden, Texas. She received her B.S. in Human Development from Texas Tech University, worked for various social work/non-profit organizations, and then attended Baylor University, where she earned her M.S. in Education. During her time at Baylor, Kiesling was an Academic Mentor at the Academic Success Center.
