PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH (Ohio State):
Burns slashed .455/1.006/.540 this past season with 25 home runs and 72 RBI on her way to being named an NFCA First Team All-American…the rising junior ranked t-5th in home runs (25), t-5th in slugging percentage (1.006), 5th in total bases (166), t-8th in batting average (.455) and t-14th in RBI (72)… Her 25 home runs was not only a program record, but a Big Ten single-season record… • Was one of three players to start all 51 games… Hit .298 with nine home runs, six doubles and 37 RBI… Had the most RBI among Big Ten freshmen… Was a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, earning the honor on Feb. 12 and March 13… Her nine home runs were the most by an Ohio State freshman since Alicia Herron hit 14 in 2009… Best Big Ten series came vs. Illinois when she hit .500 with a home run and three RBI… Defensively, threw out a team-high seven would-be base stealers.
High School:
First team All-State by Cal-Hi Sports in 2023… Hit 32 career home runs… Received the Ram of the Year Award as a senior at Murrieta Mesa High School, honoring the student-athlete who showed Ram pride on the off the field and in the community… Named the Most Valuable Player of the Southwestern League in back-to-back season (2022 and 2023)… Set a new school record for career RBI and home runs in a season (15) as a senior in 2023… Murrieta Mesa won three consecutive Southwestern League titles and went undefeated in league play for the first time in school history (14-0-1)… Named to the Los Angeles Times All-Star Team in 2023 following her senior year in which she hit .411 with 45 RBI, 15 home runs and 37 total hits… Played summer ball for the Athletics Mercado… Rated by Extra Innings Softball as the nation’s No. 5 catcher and No. 15 overall player… A 2023 Alliance All-Star selection… A TCS 18U Futures selection and Alliance 18U power pool first team… An honor roll student and Pride award winner in 2022.
