Red Raiders open Bruzzy in fourth

TROPHY CLUB, Texas — Texas Tech opened the 2026-27 season in fourth place after the first 36 holes of the Bruzzy, hosted by North Texas, on Tuesday, carding an opening-day 10-under 566 at Trophy Club Country Club. The Red Raiders enter Wednesday's final round nine shots behind Oklahoma, which leads the 11-team field at 19-under 557.
The Red Raiders opened with a 4-under 284 in the first round before improving by two shots to 6-under 282 in the second round.
Freshman Parat Sukanant paced the Red Raiders through the first 36 holes, climbing into a tie for 10th at 4-under 140 after firing a 4-under 68 in the second round following an opening-round even-par 72 to kick off her freshman season. After back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18 dropped her to 1-over par after 16 holes in the first round, Sukanant went on to play bogey-free golf over her next 20 holes, recording five birdies in that span to close out her opening day at Trophy Club.
Junior Tarini Bhoga also sits inside the top 20, tying for 15th at 3-under 141. Bhoga opened her Red Raider career with a 4-under 68 before carding a 1-over 73 in the second round. Her rounds were highlighted by a pair of eagles, as she was one of two players, joining Victoria Schuldt of UTSA, to record a pair of eagles over the 36-hole day. Bhoga carded a 2 on the 329-yard, par-4 15th hole in the first round while also eagling the 559-yard, par-5 fifth hole in the second round.
Freshman Angel Yin and senior Cameron Freund are tied for 27th at even-par 144 after matching rounds of 72-72. Senior Klara Hurtova moved up the leaderboard with a 2-under 70 in the second round and is tied for 39th at 2-over 146 (76-70).
Roisin Scanlon, competing as an individual, is 12-over (74-82).
The final round of The Bruzzy will begin Wednesday with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start at Trophy Club Country Club.
