Kimaru wins season opener at Cowboy Preview

The sophomore starts his 2026 season running a 5k in Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. – Sophomore runner Titus Kimaru highlighted the Texas Tech cross country team's season opener in Stillwater winning the Cowboy Preview 5k race Saturday morning.

Kimaru crossed the end line at 14:59.8 for the win, nearly three minutes ahead of the next runner. The field consisted of 37 runners from two teams in OSU and Tulsa.

Over on the women's side, Lily Mather paced the team finishing sixth overall with a 3k time of 10:35.2. Freshman Lilly Koenig placed 15^th with a time of 10:57.7 as Jenna Carter (11:12.3) and Emily Orr (11:13.3) rounded out the top-20 placing 19^th and 20^th, respectively.
